Warsteiner Dunkel

Warsteiner Brauerei Haus Cramer

Germany

I don't think Germany has produced this big of a disappointment since they lost the 1966 World Cup to England. Meinen Herren, a Dunkel is supposed to have a nice robust flavor from the roasted malts, providing almost a coffee-like flavor. At the very least they need to be rich and hearty. This is a poseur Dunkel. To put it in Heavy Metal terms, if the average German Dunkel was "Fade To Black," Warsteiner's was "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." This was like Warsteiner's lager with food coloring. It looked like a Dunkel, it's called a Dunkel, but calling this a Dunkel is like calling White Lion a metal band.
