An authentic Altbier from Dusseldorf, Uerige is by far the best I've had to date. It has a sweet, malty flavor, slightly caramel-like, colored like a Bock, and went well as an after-dinner beer. Uerige has by far the most unusual bottle I've seen on any beer. It has a stubby body, and the neck starts a lot lower then on most beers, and ends in a flip-cap. Although Germans are known for the lagers that inspired the larger American breweries, this is the style of beer that they drank for centuries before lagering, and it is delicious.
