Heineken Premium Light

Heineken Brewery

Holland

A-B has Light and then Ultra...Coors has Light and then Aspen Edge. Heineken is a little tricky, because their light beer is called Amstel, and now their extremely light beer is called Light. Smells sort of like Heineken, but it lacks that distinctive Heineken aftertaste...primarily because it lacks taste at all. To be fair, they didn't make this for the beer geeks. The ultra-light crowd now has a decent import as an option, so I'm sure it will do very well.

Thanks to Charlie Kondek from Hass MS&L Public Relations for supplying this sample, sooner then most people were able to get it. I'm a bit surprised Heineken went after this market at all, because their sister company, Amstel, has basically had for years the best light beer on the market, a market lock they had until some micros made light beers, such as Sam Adams, Atlanta Brewing and Diamond Bear, all of which are quite a bit better then Heineken Light. In Heineken's favor is the fact that this beats out the average US mega light beer, so those who prefer imports and don't mind the price will have a beer to turn to.
