Typical American winter ale, I suppose. Wasn't all that fantastic. Tasted kind of like their hefe-weizen, actually. I was expecting something better, because I love winter ales. Not nearly as tasty as Catamount's, just average; good, drinkable, but average. Neat bottle if you're a collector, though.
I'm sitting here with a glass of this as I write the review. Dark amber-brown, smells good in the glass. Not quite as sweet as I'd expect. It's got a good hop presence. And thank god it's not fouled by any of those hideous spices so many brewers think they have to throw in at Christmas. This is not as good as some I've had this time of year, but it's still a good choice for a winter warmer by the fire. Pick this one up and give it a spin.
