Who is James Boag? Or so the advertising goes. Well I can't tell you who the f he is, but I can tell you that this beer is brewed in Tasmania. It is similar but slightly superior to that other premium lager that's brewed on the south side of the island (Cascade Premium). It's a little more hoppy, which gives it some good bitterness to balance with the nice sweetness of it. I kind of taste apples in this. Definitely clean and refreshing, but with that little extra hoppiness I was looking for.

We have damned few decent restaurants in Waco. If it ain't chain, it won't last here. So last Sunday we were deciding which same-old-same to eat lunch at, and decided on a whim to try Outback, a place my wife and I haven't eaten at in probably eight years or more. Well, I was a little surprised to see some actual Australian beers on their menu, and went for the James Boag. Tim's right: this is a pretty good little number. Crisp and hoppy--not over the top, but very nice indeed. Went very nicely with my sirloin. I recommend.
