This is only available in a mixed six-pack in my market, along with the Black Lager (yum) and the Honey Porter (yawn). Irish red ale is by and large not my favorite style, but this was pleasant enough. Malty, mild caramel flavor, pleasantly hopped. A little sweet for my palate. I suspect though that you could use this beer to win over some of your BMC addicted friends. Give it a try.

Sam Adams always reminds me of that one friend we all have who isn't the coolest guy; he doesn't get the chicks, he doesn't stand out at parties, but he has his moments. He's the solid dependable friend you need in every friend lineup. Cool guys are dickish half of the time and the guy who's a hit a parties is always blowing you off to hook up with some random skank, but good ol' Sammy is always up for hitting one of those awful late night diners after your both just closed down the bar. Sam Adams Irish Red fits this mold. It's not great, but it's solid and dependable. It's the kind of beer that if you found it in someone's fridge you'd be happy to drink it all day, but you wouldn't necessarily knock yourself out trying to get it. It's a middle of the road brew, probably better than a lot of reds out there but still nothing spectacular. At the very least it's worth a try.
