This is the only version of this style I have ever come across, and then I researched the style and apparently it's quite popular....elsewhere in the world. It's basically beer mixed with lemonade. I tried this in Victory Lanes in Merrill WI, right after drinking two New Glarus Spotted Cows, so my taste buds were nice and blunted by this point. So, at that point it really wasn't that bad. Not a beer I'd want to drink in public while saving face, but it might be a reasonable choice after mowing the lawn, or tilling up a garden on a 90 degree day. I would give this a worse rating, but it's one of these occasions where you need to take style into account. For style, it may be exceptional. It's just not an exceptional beer.

Leinenkugel seldom fails to match up to expectations. Unfortunately, those expectations are on the wrong side of average. At least they are consistent. This offering is no exception. Watery, with a distinct flavor of lemon pledge, this brew almost completely, but not all the way resembles something other than a good shandy. I love shandy. Even the idea of it. Nice fresh citrus flavors with cold beer on a hot summer day. Very refreshing. This on the other hand, is summer depression in a bottle. I realize that shandy should in no way be heavy, but it does need more back bone than this has.
