Point Horizon Wheat

Stevens Point Brewery

USA

My father-in-law, from a German-dominated town in Northern Wisconsin, likes to refer to Stevens Point as a "Polack city." Mainly because Point was originally settled by Polacks, and since Point started out as a regional beer, it was a Polack beer, I guess. Normally, I have to say I find their beers agreeable, but this was definitely a Polack attempt at a wheat beer. I've toured this brewery (twice), and I know they have the ability to churn out a good wheat beer, a good German-style wheat beer. To make something this dull is just confusing. Why brew a good style of beer, but not brew it so that it's actually good? Unless they think their market is too dumb (Polacks?) to know what a good wheat beer should taste like? Anyway, I'm rambling. It's disappointing, let's leave it at that.
