Boom Shakalager is a Bavarian-style Imperial Lager, and part of their "Side Project" series (this is #11). Boom Shakalager, while owning an unbelievably stupid name, it's an unbelievably good lager. It comes in a 22oz bomber bottle, and is a solid 9% abv. It's pretty hoppy, with a mixture of Magnum, Perle, Hallertauer Mittelfruh, and Tettnanger hops. There's a bit of sweetness on the beginning of the sip, followed up with the citrus finish from the hops, making this a pretty well-balanced beer. This could be one of my favorites of the Side Project series. Although, the label is a bit lame, going for the stereotypes of German beer drinking society....a musician holding a tuba that has a look on his face that could be found on a pedophile watching the Vienna Boys Choir, and the other is a well-endowed young woman holding a couple of pewter steins in her hands. Well worth the effort. I would suggest getting a 1 liter Maßkrug with which to drink this.
