Schloss Eggenberg Samichaus Helles

Brauerei Schloss Eggenberg

Austria

The sample I had was bottled in 2007, so I'm wondering where this has been, since I'm positive my local store hasn't had this until recently. This beer was excellent, a nice strong lager, registering 14% on the Richter scale. I approached it like a brandy, sipping it slowly and enjoying the taste and aroma. It's extremely malty, with a gorgeous golden-reddish color, similar to a brandy or cognac. It's fairly sweet, and has a nice alcoholic burn going down the throat. I have a fairly serious head cold right now, and the aroma fought through my clogged sinuses pretty easily. I almost want to live someplace colder, just so I could drink this on a freezing day.
