Hofbräu Hefe Weizen

Hofbräuhaus München

Germany

This beer can also be found under the name Münchner Weisse. Honestly I wasn't a huge fan. It was OK, but not awesome. Part of that may be my fault. For one, I found it in a liquor store in northern Wisconsin, brought it back to GA warm, and cooled it down again, and all of this probably months (if not longer) past its best-by date (Hefeweizen don't have long shelf lives). The effervescense was there, it did foam up nicely, but the lemon background that makes Hefeweizen so distinct wasn't as strong as I'd like. That banana-clove combination wasn't as present as well, tasting a bit thin. I wouldn't rule out trying it again, but I have to be honest, this particular sampling didn't go well. Not nearly as good as the Dunkel or the Original.
