Alt, German for Old, means that it's brewed in the Old way, meaning that it's with top-fermenting ale yeast strains (hence alts are ales, or are hybrid beers mixing ale yeast and lager fermentation temps). This is one of the few ales that you will find coming out of Das Vaterland. It has a flowery odor, typical of lighter ales, but it doesn't translate to taste. It is light tasting, good for summery weather, not hoppy at all. However, it has a nice ABV of 5.1%, so it packs a nice punch into a lighter, easy-going taste.
