I went into this assuming this would be another substandard attempt at a popular German beer recipe (typical of Shiner). This is not the best hefeweizen that I've ever had, but one of the best American attempts. It has that yeast smell, malty taste and lemon background, without a trace of hops. It did finish a bit weak, kind of flavorless, but all in all a good effort, one that I was impressed with....kind of like when the Cubs have a winning record. I think I might actually try this again.
