Celebrator Dopplebock

Brauerei Ayinger

Germany

I think when the BJCP wrote the style guidelines for dopplebock it may have been after having one of these. Either that, or they just nailed it. Amazing brew. Rich and malty, strong aroma, thick & fluffy head and tons of wonderful flavor. I didn't think I'd ever give out a 10, but this one cannot be improved upon. Treat yourself to this if given the chance.

This was my beer of choice for Christmas Eve 2003. After the fondue was cleaned up, and the little one was in bed, and her Christmas presents were assembled, I broke this out. Good thing, too, because if I drank this first there would've been gouges in the table I assembled for my daughter from the Allan wrench, undoubtedly. This was a fine mid-winter beer, doing much credit to the style of Doppelbocks. At 6.7% ABV, it warmed the throat and the soul. The bottle comes with the little plastic goat charm. Now I'm ready for winter.
