Dogfish Head Aprihop

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery

USA

Ooh, what a cute name. I guess you should say this is a hoppy Apricot brew. Of course, if you were to say that, I would only agree with you on half of it. Yes, it was quite hoppy. But I could neither taste nor smell any apricots. That might be due to the fact that I don't know what an apricot tastes or smells like, but that's neither here nor there. As usual, I prefer something a little less bitter, but it wasn't a bad beer. Some people would even say it's a good beer. I'm just not one of those people.

When first poured into a pint glass, and the head is built up and releasing the wonderful aroma, you can just smell that apricot mixed in with the flowery hop smells. However, at some point, the hops grab the apricot by the throat and say, "yo punk, what're you doin' here?" And the apricot's all like, "hey man, I ain't lookin' for trouble," and the hops are like, "well, you found it!" At which point the hops smack the fruit character in the face with a shovel, and continue to beat the apricot until it takes a DNA test for the next of kin to identify the remains. But to be honest with you, the 7% abv helps the mourning process move along really quickly. If you love hops, you'll love this.
