I'm tempted to do some research to see why ESB and English Pale Ales are considered different styles, or if they truly are, because they're interchangeable in my opinion. Hop profile is kind of earthy, and focus on the bittering hop (vs American Pale Ale, which is more citrusy with emphasis on flavor and aroma hops as well as the bittering). Maybe I'm biased, but compared to American Pales, they're pretty boring. This is a fine session beer, and I'd gladly have it again, but I prefer a bit more complexity. If you are enjoy an English Pale, or ESB, then nothing about this beer will offend you. It's a suitable example of the style.
