Herold Bohemian Wheat Lager

Pivovar Herold Breznice

Czech Republic

This is a Bohemian take on a Bavarian beer style (and for those who don't know, Bohemia is a province in the Czech Rep, it's not brewed by hippies), using local wheat and pilsner malts and yeast bartered from a Bavarian brewery. It's a lot lighter than German Hefeweizen, and actually comes similar to many American versions of that style, so I guess it has to be judged the same way....a poor copy. Not a bad beer overall, but not very good in-style. Unlike UFO or Saranac, I had no problem finishing this one, I was just left wanting more.
